Haunting Lessons Ii

As I sat down on a park bench
Right next to an old man
We started talking about the weather
It was about then my complaining began

It was then he said
'Son, it does us no good to complain!
It's all just a matter of opinion
If it's too hot, or if we're getting too much rain

Though it's mans nature
To moan and to complain
Everything is already planned
And there's nothing we can change

We all have our own
Types of aches and pains
Think of them as part of lifes scars
So you see, it does us no good to complain

We can always lend an ear
Or better yet, a helping hand
To those that are down, We can help
Pull them out of lifes sinking sands

We never know how good we have it
Until we see how bad off someone else is
And something difficult to them
To us it may seem like a whiz

Help your fellow man all you can
For the rewards at the end
Will just as surely pay off
In Heavens own dividends

It brought tears to my eyes
Just from his wisdom filled words
And when I looked up to say something
There was no one around, but a few birds

Though he had just as sure disappeared
As if he was never even there
But I'll remember his words of wisdom
And try to treat others with a bit more care
