Have You Ever Poem by Geraldine PoynerHayes

Have You Ever

Have you ever, laughed and laughed unable to stop?
Have you ever, cried floods of tears; so many you needed a mop.

Have you ever, hated so deep?
Your body trembled your heart to Satan’s lair did creep.

Have you ever, loved so intense?
You knew it was possible to jump the moon as a two foot fence.

Have you ever, screamed your brains out?
Then wondered, why did I shout!

Have you ever, stared into space observing the stars?
Have you ever, wished you could live on Mars?

Have you ever, wanted to be a bird?
Soaring through the skies silvery clouds unheard.

Have you ever, yearned to be dead?
Yet the thought of leaving it all behind fills you with dread.

Have you ever, wanted to be a tree swaying in the wind?
At this thought you stupidly grinned.

Have you ever, wondered what it would be like to be a millionaire?
To flaunt sexuality, intelligence, flair.

Have you ever, wondered why you exist? What life’s about?
But have never found an answer with any clout.

Don’t worry my friend;
You’re not round the bend,
You are Human, that’s all,
The Men in white coats won’t call!
