Have You Ever? Poem by ray shaw

Have You Ever?

Rating: 4.8

Do you remember
The last time
You stepped into a shower
Cubicle?
Do you remember
How it was done?

Where were you looking?
Were you worried about
The slight, moist floor?
Which did not need the use
Of your eyes........
Because they were intent on
Locating the ‘Hot and Cold” taps;
Do you remember
Even thinking about looking ‘down’?
After locating the step;
We all stay looking ‘up’.

Up!
Up at the adjustments we are making
To the faucets,
At the location of the soap,
The shampoo........
And the reviving spray of water
From the ‘Rose’.
Yep! ............... Up!

I got a huge fright this morning,
Because for some unknown reason,
I had occasion to..........
Look down.

I looked down
And saw this huge shape,
About the size of a dinner plate,
It was just there.........
Just there in the shadows
Of the dark bottom corner
Of the recess;
Waiting!
Waiting for ME!
I am sure..............
To enter the shower recess!
And I was scared!

I caught my breath.........
And did a ‘Double take’.
I had to assess the danger;
The danger presenting itself
To destroy my body and soul;

I opened my eyes wider
And stepped back.......
I had to stoop a little
So as to focus on the object in the shadows of the recess;
‘Not too low’,
I said to myself,
‘It might grab me around the neck.....
And I would be lost! ’

Visions of blood.........
Swirling down the plug hole.

I opened my eyes wider!
And looked more intently.......
I saw it............
Looking up!
From its location,
I saw it in its entirety!

A blue and white shower cap.
