Have You Ever Heard A Mountain Scream Poem by Ernest Lott III

Have You Ever Heard A Mountain Scream

Have you ever heard a mountain scream
No, not that kind, but the one on which you lean
Your rock, your stone, your solid one
The one you laugh and cry with, when the day is done

Or does your mountain never scream at all
Does it just crumble a little, but never fall
Have you noticed that your mountain may seem a little small

Have you ever heard a mountain scream
If you haven't, then you are not listening it seems
I promise you that no matter how great it is
There will come a day when your mountain just may

It always looks so strong and steady
It is always right there, at the ready
It takes on everything it has and your's
It is amazing, it always endures

Remember one thing, if not more than this
It takes but a steady stream to cut one just a little bit

So, I have to ask again
Have you ever heard a mountain scream
