Love Poem by Ernest Lott III

Love

Like a shooting star
Fireworks bursting in the air
A breeze quickly come and gone
An endless stare

A sonnet read during a sunrise
A bird's song in the midst of fireflies
A calamitous rupture of endless hope and joy
Ripping your insides to shreds leaving you as someone's toy

It burns, stings, melts, shakes your core
Scars, hurts, engenders all sorts of emotions
Takes and takes and still wants more

It can lift you up so high
Send you crashing back to the ground
Make you wish you weren't alive
Leave you weeping without sound

Bring a grown man to tears
Strip away years
Take a nation to its knees
Find a flaw in perfect beauty

Make you wish you'd never die
Wish you could live in just one moment
Forever. For the rest of your life.

Make your head swim, your heart sing, your stomach ache
Make being alone something you think you can't take
Leave you wishing for more, even whe it causes pain

Love...
