He Asked Me ‘why Are You So? ' Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

He Asked Me ‘why Are You So? '

He asked me ‘Why are you so? '
For I would not speak though I had a lot
Of speech in me.

Nor would one tear come out
Though my eyes were broken.

And I did not cry
Though I had pain.

And I did not smile
Though I had joy

For I am in love, my Monsignor.
