He Daydreamed Poem by Francis Duggan

He Daydreamed

As a young man he daydreamed of wealth and renown
That he would be famous far beyond his hometown
A multi billionaire of Worldwide fame
And to billions of people a very well known name

And though better for him in life he felt was his due
Any of his younger years daydreams for him did not come true
A grandfather in his early eighties divorced from his wife
He has had many an up and a down in his life.

His ex wife now with a younger man going back in time
They did love each other when in their physical prime
But as time went on of him she did tire
And she fell out of love with the man she used to admire

Of happier times in life of he would have known
With his best friend his black and white border collie he lives on his own
In a one bedroom flat on the poor side of the town
As a young man he daydreamed of wealth and renown.
