He Died Today Poem by Larisa Marie Davis

He Died Today

Rating: 5.0

im not good at goodbyes,
and i dont know whats so good about them.

dont make me say it,
ill have to say so long,
though you'll be gone,
for a lot longer than that.
as a matter of fact,
your gone for good.
i know i should,
face the facts,
but i dont like that,
idea.
id much rather pretend youre sleeping,
and in awhile,
your smile,
that could light up a million darknesses,
will turn on,
and you'll shine,
18 in your prime,
and we'll move on.
id prefer that to the knowledge,
that while im leaving for college,
they're burying you.
it isnt true.
you're too young and perfect,
for death to touch you.
come back to us,
and make us trust,
in a much higher power,
and find you alive.

or at the very least,
dont make me say goodbye.
