He Humbled Me Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

He Humbled Me

Rating: 5.0

Mortal man is mortal
Lack the attributes of immortality
With imperfections round about him
Though he may assume supreme
Adopted status of ignorance

Healthy and strong I thought I was
But illness I knew not confirmed reality,
When I thought I was affluent
Little challenges ate up my resources,
Muscular and stoutly I assumed
When a tiny rope tripped my frame,
In wisdom and knowledge I boosted
But a little child taught me my name

In all I realised and acknowledged
I am nothing and nothing is me
I am vanity and vanity is me
I am just mortal and mortal is just me
And without Him my Maker
I die just a mortal vanity nothing.
