~ He Knew ~ Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

~ He Knew ~

He knew
A lot

I listened
A lot

I was
Impressed

Father was
Not

I asked father
Why not?

He said
That neighbour of his
Had immense
Knowledge
Could talk for hours
Needed an audience
But if you listened
And refuted any of
His points, all his
Knowledge would
Take the back seat
And his anger
Would occupy
The front seat....

He imparts a lot
But he needs
A silent audience
That doesn't
Disagree with him
Or rather if the
Audience says
Something, it is
Only to agree
With him or
Appreciate
Him....
