He Loves Me Not Poem by Stephenie VanCampJones

He Loves Me Not

Rating: 5.0

He says he loves me but they're just words
and promises expressed, afterthoughts forgotten
once past the lips.

He lives a life so opposite from mine,
it could easily be several light years away.

I feel as if I'm in a sea of turbulence
about to be swept under
by tidel wave of loneliness
with all lifelines just out of reach,

Attempts to save myself fall short once realized;
for a weight feels like it's been lifted
once I try to disengage from meager ties.

But new found freedom is shortlived
once challenged, I find myself back
to treading water with only faith
to support me.
