He Protected Me Poem by Katherine Rhodes

He Protected Me

Rating: 5.0

He protected me tonight
from a seemingly harmless danger,
and I feel compelled to love him for it.
But how?
How can I love him
for something you've done
so many times before.

I saw your face in him tonight
and now I feel compelled to hold him
like you once held me
by the river that night.
Do you remember?
But how can I lie to him
when it will always be you that I long to hold.

But he sang to me tonight
and I was compelled to sing with him.
And it was wonderful
but it wasn't right.
You used to sing to me, even though you said you were bad,
and I loved it.
I loved it with all my heart.
