I lost you again
to the sound of the wind
and the color of the sky
as you run by
without so much as a glance.

And I let you go
through the dark and the snow
through your thoughts and dreams
as strange as it seems
hoping you will return.

But when all seems gray
at the end of the day
I see your wonderful smile
and hope for awhile
that I might get to keep it.

Then in the dark of the night
while I hold you tight
and whisper 'love me still? '
I know that surely you will
in silence give me a solid nod.
