He's Gone Now2020 06 16
It was what it was
At the beginning
Nobody was losing or winning
Then he began
Tip of his tongue
A song unsung
Curse those beneath him
In case he won.
He promised nothing
I hoped for eternity
Still, he begged me
I brought thunder before lightning
In my prayers for rain
Hoping for his dissolution
Crazy driving down the highway
Moments of wilderness in disarray
Wildflowers by the stream
Waterfalls in backwards motion
That is the memory seeming
Backwards like a dream
And woken at midnight
On the road, the music was playing
I rest here now, awake, knowing
The music is still playing
He is gone now, thank heavens
As rain is to the peace afterwards
He is no longer staying.
