He Said... Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

He Said...

Anyone who thinks slavery is a choice did not know the number of deaths,
The number of deaths,
Which occurred before the many rebellions,
Before the known revolutions.

Slavery is not a choice but a scar,
People are still brain washed by the ideology of thinking they are lower,
Brighter is better,
Not only thinking but cutting so deep as to knowing they won't get far.
Slavery is closed in minds tighter than any jar.

To think slavery was just and act,
Which ended with one written contact,
By the same law which made it all intact.
To think that slavery can retract.
When it is living on to this day- is a fact.

We are in the 21st century,
Where thoughts and lives are embellished on slavery.

This is why they say history,
Is an important area to study.
I never paid it much interest as it brought hatred and agony.

Saying that there's choice in slavery,
You have no right- not just that but you are not worthy.

The number of hearts you are hurting!
The numbers you are corrupting!
It is beyond belief to know that such is occurring.

So I ask of you to not ever repeat such a thing.
