Health Games Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Health Games

Health games

Time is set to go there, and I reach right on time
I called though in order of the fear
“Sorry, I possibly will be late.”
And wasn’t.

Upon my arrival sat and came, questions-form
Addictions? Allergies? Sick, injured? And much more
Took time to fill them up; I prayed for my health, to lone God
“Lord, please keep me far from hell, of such kind.”

Mean people and cruel, in this job.

Then waited, waited long, an hour
“What for is appointment, if ignored, no respect? ”
Officials are robots; machine parts; driver, wrench, ply.

What? Why? How? Became an idea, on easel, on canvas
And then art: background, foreground and actors
The dentists, orthopedic, the work is private
Suck blood for income.

Insurance and insured, the lawyers, laws, by-laws, all at fight
Dog eats dog.

Finally I was called; room small, solitary, like in jails
Low in height, few walls, and glass, tainted, dark
And more time, waiting time, patients’ gown.

Once again bored, tired, look around, papers, signs
Advertise for foot, leg and shoulder…and so on.

The patients are preys with bruise, and fallen, broken
Come with cane, and with aid, and hands, legs are in cast
But the room, colorful with photos and items, advertise
What a world, clinics turned to shops, filled with lies.
