The time had come for you to die
But I never heard your last goodbye,
Now life is hollow everyday...
With clouds forever grey.

You were my happiness of Spring
And I have but one song left to sing.
Skylarks remind me at early morn
How you helped me face each violent storm.

There's sorrowful heartache day by day
Often I close my eyes and pray.
I could not hear your last goodbye
When the time had come for you to die.
