Heaven Poem by Christopher McKay

Heaven

See the sea
Of the sea of shores,
Before the sunset
Of befores.
Silver clouds
pend not on time,
Oh to savor
that flavor of mine.
And to not-
Be of more,
Swim to the sea
Before the shore.
And know I not
Of such bitter sand,
Retracting waters
Wave the land.
Alas I speed
Across the blue,
The skyline renders
A day of new.
So swim with me
To the Earth's end,
And remember not
Our lands' pretend.
As the Sun sets
We find the edge,
Around the world
We took a pledge.
And now we suffer
In centuries of mistake,
We may live now
But let us not foretake.
And soon enough
Shall come the end,
As the eternal wave
Begins to ascend.
And again
we swim the sea,
Because dry land awaits
For you and me.
