For You Poem by Christopher McKay

For You

I want to be there to support and help
I want to be there when there is no one else.
I want to be the stone you lay your body on
Oh happiness was meant to be sung, but not an easy song.
So I'll lay down my warm body for you to sleep
Rest peacefully darling for there is time to keep.
And ever so annoyed by the ravens' wish to call
But I'd shoot them one by one to give you it all.
I want to be there to cry upon when in shame
I want to be there when there's no one left to blame.
I want to be the bandage that tapes together your broken wing
Oh peace is such a simple song, but yet no one can sing.
So I'll set myself on fire to give you the warmth
I'll burn down the enemies who try to give harm.
And ever so peaceful is the singing moon at night
But it all can end with the sun at first daylight.
Oh! I want to be there to untie your arms from the wall
I want to be there to guide you to the voice's call.
I want to be the waters that cleanse your body and soul
Oh life was once an easy song, but we cannot let go.
So I'll cut myself to give you the nutrients to drink
The blood will stay warm as my body startsto sink.
And ever so lonely is your once parted heart
But I am the stitch that keeps it from falling apart.
