I watched
As heaven’s tear dripped,
Rolling, sliding, tearing
From the leaf’s green
Where it had exploded.
Its water-veined surface
Jarring, shaking, breaking
From its myth-like flight,
A demi-god doom intent.
Astride the world’s breath it came
Falling, flying, sighing
From the great granite folds
And gullies far above.
It hastens like quicksilver
Lunging, heaving, grieving
Into the deep brown earth
At my feet.
