Heavenly Letter Poem by Ayotunde Okunowo

Heavenly Letter

I received a note from heaven
Written by he who created the earth
That the guards of heaven fell asleep
And a damsel sneaked out of yard

He said the lady was glamorous
Because he made her himself
And not like any other being
Who was made by mere angels

He said he gave her a salacious curve
Made her voice so vivacious
And her smiles so infectious
With a gait just as sonorous

He said he made her on purpose
To test those who profess faith
Whose eyes on not such pretty dope
And yet falls in faith and spirit

I also read in God's letter
That the lady cheated on the celestial host
By disappearing with such beauty
That on no terrestrial woman bestowed

As I read in God's letter, I though,
How does all this concerns me
I only read further to behold;
Because She Lies In Your Embrace

I looked at my damsel and confirmed

If truly the oceans turns into ink
And the trees of the forest into pens
They would forever remain insufficient
To describe your angelic creation

Her beautiful self and vivacious smiles
Attestates to God's sculptural supremacy.
