Heavens, What Heavens? Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

We all want to go to heaven.
I wonder what heaven is.
Is there such a place

Or is it just a dream
Or maybe the dream of some lotus eaters,
A fireflies dream?

Deep in my heart
I dearly wish it is a real,
More real and lasting than this place,
A place of transcendental peace, love and wisdom
Of infinite joy,

Where all creaturesgo
And enjoy a rest,
Away from perpetual tears,
Pain, fear and tortures, separation
And death.

But my wish does not make reality of that place.
Still I hate to think that he who made such a wonderful place
For us to enjoy here on earth
Would let our spirits wander in vain in the ether.
