Help Me, Teacher Poem by John Sensele

Help Me, Teacher

Hold my hand when I want to learn
For you and I illiteracy to burn
If you do your best as my trusted teacher
Who in my classroom shouldn't become a preacher

As I ready my mind concepts to master
When you teach me well and help me faster
To master information and communication technology
Instead of your preferred political ideology

Which my brain abhors
In bigotry bores and sores
My education doesn't need
As to you I plead

To help me acquire lasting learning
Not rote memory spinning
Which leaves my brain dead
As in reality I learn no tangible trade

That helps me to self realize
Unless in one trade I specialize
Gaining proficiency in fixing cars
And less propensity to barricade myself in bars.
