Helpless Poem by Pamela Wheeler

Helpless

I know I'm not beautiful
I know I'm not perfect, but
My love for you has never been different

So what is?

You call him your new best friend
You think he's the best
I call him the biggest jerk
That I've ever met

So why him?

He tells you you're better
He tells you how to live
He seems so familiar
Because he is

You've been warned about him
All your life
He's the devil
The master of demise

So if you try to
Break it off
He'll only kill your soul

Now I only have myself to blame
For this hell
Ride on a deadly carousel
