Her Secret Poem by Elizabeth Forrest

Her Secret

Crying for attention
bleeding on the floor
no one there to hear her
so she cuts herself some more

The relief she feels from cutting
is like a weight lifted from her chest
so many scars left on her arms
cause thats where she likes to cut the best

She's unsure of the reason
why it feels so good
why she can't just stop
she has never understood

She is on a medication
thats supposed to control the urge
but she continues to cut herself
so the endorphines will start to surge

She hides it from her family
and hides it from her friends
scared that their judgemental eyes
will belittle her to no end

So she keeps the secret to herself
and only cuts when she's alone
everyday cutting deeper and deeper
just how far she will go is unknown
