Here And Now Poem by Ted Steger

Here And Now

I find there is as much beauty,
In a dirty dreary prisonyard,
As there is in the richest palaces of Rome,

And God can be found
As much in the Asylums,
As in the Churches.

That's why it bothers to me,
Whenever I hear people wish to be somewhere else but here,
Some time other than now,
As if the Thing they've been looking for,
Has not been right in front of their eyes,
The entire time.

Isn't it funny?
How the child only wishes to grow older.
And Adults only wish to be young again,
WAKE
UP!
THE
PLACE
IS
HERE
THE
TIME
IS
NOW!

The life we've been given,
Is too short,
Too fragile,
To be wasted,
Wishing.

IT is,
Too short,
To be,
Too late.

IT is too short.
Not to consecrate this very moment,
This very spot,
Where we stand,
Undaunted, Unwavering,
Face to face with an Ancient Sky,
That remind us we are A L I V E.
