Here Democracy Was Born Poem by Kaikubad Ali

Here Democracy Was Born

When the rock was fallen down,
Folks were shaken,
Kingdom was broken,
The king lost his golden thrown.

All gathered at the People's Square,
High were hands,
Air filled with chants,
They said, 'Democracy was born here'.

So, it was the morning in everyone's home,
Prosperity got sound,
Happiness unbound,
We all were king in our kingdom.

But the power demands to rule,
One day, it came to the hand of a mule,
Who ordered a Hee-Haw fare,
Standing at mid of the People's Square,
Said, 'Those who don't bray,
Those who don't eat the hay,
Invaders are they, against the nation,
For their faith, must face Execution.

It was that night, all were stand still,
Child, women and men of will,
Resisting their faith, all were killed.
With Blood and flesh People's Square was filled.
After that night nothing was to mourn,
They said, 'Here, Democracy was born.'
