Here Lies An Atheist Poem by Randy McClave

Here Lies An Atheist

Here lies an atheist
Destination still unknown,
He didn't believe in the hereafter
So, I guess that he'll always be alone.
His last journey was with his family in a hearse,
Now into a coffin him they will disperse.

Here lies an atheist
With no eternity of Heaven or Hell for him,
No preacher to give him his words
And no choir to sing a religious hymn.
There will be no weeping or a party near,
Or no one to say see you later or to cry a tear.

Here lies an atheist
Now he lies 6 feet deep underground,
He is still alone and now very lonely
No home had he ever found.
His soul was never saved or ever mended,
His gravesite will stay unattended.

Here lies an atheist
He is now finally laid to rest,
No more journeys left for him to have
Not even that one last quest.
He never believed in the Devil or in salvation,
Even though he was God's creation.

Here lies an atheist
And here he will lie until the end of time,
He will be forgotten in the afterlife
No ladder will he ever descend or climb.
He is dressed in his favorite suit you might know,
His hair is combed, cologne on, but he has no place to go.
