Here May the Anxious be Encouraged Poem by Raymond A Foss

Here May the Anxious be Encouraged

When we fear, when we question, when we are nervous
our lives out of control, unregulated, at the whim of others
buffeted by the winds, by outside forces, uncertainty
Let this house of worship, this community of faith
may we be a place where the anxious can be encouraged
that God will be with them in the trials of life, that the one
who created the universe,
who designed the beating of a hummingbird's wing
the beating of a newborn's heart
can hold their life, their concerns, their fears in his hand
that we can be there in the dark times with them, listening
understanding the humanness of their fears, their torment
the lack of knowing, the loss of control
But let us ever remember that control is an illusion
the gossamer of time, a charade
For we all are buffeted, caught unaware, from time to time
and for good or for ill, we have to let go and let God
