Her eyes met mine from the garden gate Poem by Rajendra Prasad Meena Jaipur India

Her eyes met mine from the garden gate

She came beside me,  despite the weight.
"What are you thinking? " she softly said,
But I stayed silent,  lost in my head.

My silence deepened her worry and fear,
She sat beside me,  drawing near.
"Look at me, " she whispered with care,
And suddenly,  peace replaced despair.

Those wasted hours began to fade,
As I met the eyes that love had made.
I looked at her,  and somehow knew,
The world felt kinder,  the sky more blue.

I walked downstairs,  leaving the sky,
She brought me tea,  and sat nearby.
I realised I need not roam,
For all I seek is waiting at home.

No roof,  no stars,  no distant dome,
Could give me what I find at home.
In her quiet love,  my heart finds rest—
You are my home,  my safest nest.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poet himself is a husband who experiences loneliness and becomes lost in his thoughts. While sitting alone on the roof, he appears pale and emotionally troubled. His wife notices his sadness and approaches him with love and concern. Through her gentle presence and simple act of bringing him tea, he realizes that he does not need to remain isolated from the person who cares for him. The poet expresses his personal feelings about love, loneliness, companionship, and the emotional meaning of home. He suggests that a loving relationship can bring peace to a troubled mind and help a person reconnect with life. The poem may reflect the poet's own experience or imagination; we cannot be certain that it is autobiographical.
