Hero Poem by Kennedy Huston

Hero

It isn't in slow motion like they till you it will be
everything is unclear, blurry
you can't see the bullets
you can hear them one after another ricocheting into
the empty air, people fall the blood flows coming
faster and faster with each bullet
crumpling a mans soul beneath him
watching his life slip away
in every letter you're a hero
but you feel like a villain
watching the faces turn to shock
and there bodies fall lifeless to the ground
seeing an enemy fall, feel a rush of joy followed by
guilt and regret
did they have families
were they good people, stuck in other peoples bad choices
it is to late now, you'll never know
you'll only know the lifeless color of there eyes
as they look into your's
they haunt you with every waking moment
second, minute, hour
do you have to watch a man die, horror, shock, relief
as the life leaves his eyes
to become a hero like me?
