Hesitate, Part I Poem by Affiah Odhiambo

Hesitate, Part I

Rating: 0.5

Society dictates, it irritates
They claim they know
what I can and cannot do
They say they know
what I should and should not have
That they even decide
who I should and should not be? !
Everyday tagging me, judging me, confining me!
C'mon society what's wrong with you?
As I questioned, I realized
Society is you, my friends,
Society is you, my family,
Society is... me.
'Tis therefore under our control
We can change if we choose
We can make it better if we realize
The universe is ample enough for us all to flourish
in our unique unlimited selves.
Let's set ourselves free
Let's delight in our diversity
Let's celebrate our individuality
Live and let live.
Be and let be.
