Breathless, coy anticipation,
I close my eyes and wait;
Heart pounding madly,
Surrendering to my fate.
Old familiar feelings,
Override in hot pursuit;
Senses all a-tingling,
Silent lips are mute.
Trembling, almost shaking,
Laughing hard inside;
Hysterically hoping,
Trying hard to hide.
Dare I make a run for it?
Inhibitions should be shed...
Or should I remain comatose,
on this unyielding bed?
Foolish frantic panic,
Searching, find my place;
Veiled and shrouded secretly,
a smile upon my face.
Soon I will be found out,
of that I'm pretty certain;
Peeking surreptitiously,
behind my damask curtain.
Life is nothing but a game...
this happy holiday week;
My son, his little friends and I,
are playing Hide n' Seek!
