It is not derived from books alone.
Knowledge comes and goes, piles up the facts.
I yearn for simplification, for what lingers on.
In the answers to get things done or undone
Lies cleverness; In doubts, questions and wounds,
In the elimination of non-essentials lies wisdom.
It is the melodious reward heard from a lifetime
Of listening when you had to bite your tongue,
Realizing the more we learn, the less we know.
If you can discriminate between good and evil,
If you can be happy, be free of desperation;
And have something to say than just saying something,
Then you have discovered the truth.
Remember, it is the mind that leads speech and action.
With the purity of thoughts, enlightenment follows
Like shadows clinging to their form.
