High On The Cliff Poem by Joyce Hemsley

High On The Cliff

Bird-watching again,
it was always a gift,
in the broad summer daylight
alone on the cliff. No need for
a friend to help him along
as a voice of good fortune
was singing a song.
But suddenly there came
a faint dizzy spell
and with telescope in hand
he slipped and he fell.
Stranded was he at
the brink of death's door.

With consciousness regained,
his troubles were o'er
as lapwing and sand-piper
brought cheer once more
flying high over the cliffs of
a wide golden shore.
