Him Poem by christina Evans

Him

If I starved myself just a little bit would it make a difference
If I were to deprive myself until you gave in would it matter
If I found a way to control things would you do the same
If I accept this for what it is for now would it become easier

If I lost ten pounds would you even care enough to notice
If I decided to shut down completely would you miss me
If I was dehydrated would you replenish my body
If I gave you an ultimatum would you bolt out the door

Will you become untouchable like air?
Will your love end up being conditional?
I am concerned that you may turn into him.
I’m certain that daughters chase after suitors who are just like their father.

If I became tiny and dainty like a ballerina would I be more desirable
If I chose to see more bones than skin would you be mortified
If I started to wither away would you want to plant another rose
If was bleeding profusely would you be my tourniquet

If I chopped off my hair and sold it would you loose interest
If I disclosed my scars would you make them into stars
If I took you for granted would I become more appealing
If I gave birth to your children would I be more important

Will you eventually make me feel worthless
Will you use words to manipulate me
I am concerned that you will turn into him.
I’m certain that daughters are attracted to men just like their fathers.

If I walked on shells for you would you be impressed
If I climbed a mountain for you would you be inspired
If I went on a hunger strike would you make some changes
If I close my eyes would you disappear

If I danced with another guy would you be fueled with jealousy
If I ran away for days would you be overwhelmed with despair
If I barricaded myself would you show any empathy
If I justified my actions would you agree

Will my spoken words eventually fall on deaf ears
Will you choose her over me
I am concerned that you will turn into him.
I am certain daughters fall for suitors who are just like their fathers.

If I stared at the ceiling every day would it drive you mad
If I became pregnant would you be supportive
If I asked you to sacrifice something for me would you do it
If I lost all hope would you give me faith

If I imploded tomorrow would you still be my man
If I punched you in the face would you hit back
If I was more patient would things get better
If I knew what you really thought would I crumble

Will you kick me when I’m already down
Will you damage me beyond repair
I am concerned that you will turn into him.
I am certain daughters stay with men who are similar to their fathers.
