Himself Poem by David Oladipupo Olorunshola

Himself

Such great future
Such promises and hope
What great potentials
This beats me, i don’t
Understand at all
What happened to her
What lie did she believe
It cannot be
I thought she can see
Through the facade.
I thought she can
Read in between the lines

How did she fall,
Falling pray for their tricks
She is not only smart
But intelligent and wise
This is unusual
Something is amise
It doesn’t fit
It is a surprise to all
Yet, to get over it
It is not only strange
But real strange
For her to be so used

Until l can learn,
The reason for this.
I will need to keep,
My mouth and emotion,
Intact and in check
I will think,
She is cornered, no way
And no way out for her
Her reaction gave her away
It would have been
Different,
She was non commitant,
She kept silent
She uttered no word
No one seems wiser

But one thing
I am always sure of
No matter how difficult.
A situation may be
Wanting to swallow
As the lord have
An answer; answer
For all manner of things
It is a thing that
Can be resolved,
By the creator,
Himself.
