Hindsight - Foresight Poem by Barry Van Allen

Hindsight - Foresight

I am an ordinary working man,
a peon, whose been pissed on quite enough,
an asset to the company,
who has been sat upon enough...
who has decided there is more to life than this.

A ' worker- bee ', that gave it everything,
- - - except a soul donation,
- - - and sometimes even that,
nobody ever missed it, except me .

I should have known better,
... the truth is that I did,
but, I would not admit it,
- - - not even to myself.

That mirror didn't lie to me,
In a way, I wish I'd never seen it,
... I could have been a happy fool,
to be used as such a simple tool,
... but, that reflection woke me up!

Looking at the future through the past,
is unsettling at best, and most disturbing,
understanding where you came from,
then understanding where you're going,
is what older people do before they die.

I'm just not ready yet!

I have known some sunny days,
when someone told me where to go,
not that much to my amazement,
.... they still do that all the time,
but... then the greed of others got me over that,
- - - at least I see it coming now!
