History Poem by Abhay Agarwal

History

History, a figment of imagination
Manipulator, and manipulated
Successor of time, and friend of memory
You speak of a horrible past,
One similar to a twister to sea
Scribe to the past,
Teacher to the future
A deadly reminder, to time that must not be repeated
Advice, that is untakeable,
Yet the lesson to the creation of the sustainable.
Hidden away, a calm cloudless sky, pure and stained
A presence that barely exists,
A piece of antique good.
You have many scars, but none of yours.
You are a time catcher, reminding us, that is you lesson
Classroom full of ears, not brains, you heed your warning
But in the end the cycle continues
Hypnotizing, enchanting teacher, leader, manipulator, History.
