Hoarse Voices - Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Of the hill! -
To the hill-
so shouted the hoarse
throats
and the hoarse voices

Trudged
tanks and horses
and carts
up the old hill
trudge after trudge
after trudge

And the voices grew
hoarser
And the night grew
darker
