Hold No Candle Poem by Jess Silva

Hold No Candle

Rating: 5.0

Judge what has been falling for some time,
These days are limited,
And yet we are fusing together,
What little time we may have left,
Filling the days with lies,
Lies that will become the truth some day,
Love is not innocent,
Hate is not our savior.

I am hoping for these grey skies,
To wash away the devil’s games,
That play on my mind,
Until I can no longer walk,
From the fear that swallows those around me,
I am stronger.

We drown in tears,
Fall in love with our past regrets,
I hold no candle to you,
I light you whole,
Until my body burns and turns to ash,
That could never be holy,
Because I turn away from you.

I don’t hold a weapon,
I am not afraid,
My life is at fault for this,
But your death called attention to us all,
And I wear this pain on my sleeve,
My face weary from the cold you left behind,
I strive for the skies.

But to my despair,
I am falling to the ground.
