Hold On Poem by Simon Ojewale

Hold On

Great Nation, where is your pride,
For I see you have gone to hide?
Your woes are no longer hidden
They've left you shriveled and bedridden.

The torch you once lit to find your way
Now consumes your path leading you astray.
You smile in pretence, saying all is fine
But we wait to see your glorious light shine.

As you sail through the fierce storm
I hope you rise above the norm
Does the turning wheel obey your hand?
Will this path lead you to the Promised Land?

I see the scars on your battered face.
Once blooming with smiles and loving grace,
It looks famished, like a homeless child
Left in the forest to face the wild.

Are you ready? The whirling wind draws near!
Your sailor looks unsteady, his face covered with fear!
So I hope you thrive, I know you can cope.
Keep your faith alive, for there is still hope.
