Holding My Ground (Undaunted) Poem by Marcus McKinley

Holding My Ground (Undaunted)

Standing steadfast, I the pike man
Restless against a grasses whip
Like a horses mane at full gallop
The bladed tongue does rip
Crimson teardrops effortlessly fall
Pelting my soul like acid rain
Torrential is the pain
Each laceration
Each horse’s hair
Each syllable whispered, through pointed stare
Each accusation before the dare
The peer pressure of life’s unfair
I the pike man stand steadfast
