Holding On Poem by Alicia H..

Holding On

Rating: 4.6

Four years ago was when I saw him last
He walked away and left my heart breaking
Now I need to let go and face the past
For then my heart will stop with the aching

My father only created troubles
Many of which are now my biggest fears
Now I see that there are strength in the struggles
And that there’s a reason for all the tears

But now it is my turn to walk away
And I will not look back or even cry
Because those feelings were not meant to stay
It is my turn now to say goodbye

I understand now that there is only one thing to know
It’s when to hold on and when to let go

Alicia your final couplet says it all - holding on will guarantee the hurting continues. Letting go will enable you to open a new door, or perhaps even fly. Great poem. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
