Holding On Poem by Viento de ador

Holding On

I’m holding on
To story book romances
And just one more
Of my thousand last chances

Any and every time
You made a half-hearted vow
So I'm hoping that
Half is all we need right now

I’m holding onto our dreams
No matter how crazy they are
And to every poem I wrote
Praying you hadn’t drifted too far

All of the warm summer nights
That we talked until the sun rose
Our ten second phone calls
And how much we loved those

I’m holding on
The way Romeo did with Juliet
And to memories of your smile
That you had that February day we met

To the comfort we found
Whenever we held each other close
But the love I share with my best friend
Is what my heart holds onto the most
