Holy Wall Poem by Showkat Ahmad Wani

Holy Wall

This wall of iron that gaps not only yard
And ends the marks of feet to other part,
That burns the family-thread to ash, to end
The brother's brotherly mild panic feel,
This wall that blocks my bird of pain to ME,
And turns my lucid joy to endless sore,
This wall that walls the hearts to build them tombs,
And wipes the childhood tints of common lap,
To sow the seeds of self in hearts of rocks;
This wall that walls the lap and parts her too
To endless parts, to smash by fractions deep;
This wall that walls paternal zeal to moan,
And forms the inner final fear of night
Among the holy words of family-howl,
He cries to see his brood with toddler face
With toddler heart, with toddler tongue and walk;
This wall that blocks the gentle whiff of food
And tender word of love to share for love;
We eat beneath the wall of other's starve,
We breathe beneath the wall of other's pause,
We love beneath the wall of other's hate,
We please beneath the wall of other's pain,
We live beneath the wall of other's death;
Don't think this wall as wall but endless chain
That chains my earth to ME, my sky to ME,
That chains my shine to ME, my shade to ME,
That chains my kin and world, and all myself;
Don't think this wall as wall but endless chain.
