Holy Week2020 Poem by Mai Murphy Venn

Holy Week2020

It's time for us to remember, the passion of our king
From Palm Sunday to Spy Wednesday, then Holy Thursday
On to Good Friday then awaiting the Saturday vigil Mass.
Easter Sunday, we awake to our church bells in their rejoicing ring

This year our church speaks softly from vacant sanctuaries everywhere
, While we pray our prayers as we listen on the radio.and T.V.
Yes, at this strange time we are alert to the gospel of the Lord
We have opened up our door to let him in, we join in with the prayers.

This contagion virus is a reminder that we never know the hour or the day
It's like a plague in the book of Exodus, so beware and be ready
A wise man will be prepared for the worse and he will except it
A foolish man will bury his head in the sand or go his own way.

This Easter has established, how good people help each other
In a time of crisis even those they have strayed from the flock
Their hearts are kind, they sacrifice time and good deeds out of love
They are the disciples of the Lord. looking after the families, sisters, and brother
