Homage Poem by V F

Homage

Rating: 5.0

Always in a flurry,
doing this that and everything else
she could not sit still;
dreading her own thoughts
sensible yet naïve how could one be?
believing in a lie simply to feel good about oneself?

she had so badly wanted to belong
so longed.. needed to be cherished
that in her desperation was blinded
could not understand love's true light

he once said she did not know what love was
yes! how right he was..

How could she turn away from that heart held out
only for her..
pure and true..
unwavering and bleeding?

In her torment and pain,
she had never then believed herself to be worthy of his love
having faced only abandonment and neglect
and so her oft broken heart stumbled on and hungered..

She dealt him a fatal blow..
but his love still sustained
waiting, hoping and doing the only thing he knew..
loving her with all his heart..

She stands today humbled by his love
and understands finally
Love never is sunshine and roses,
but also valleys and thorns..
yet the love that is true
always sustains... and lives on..
forever..
