Hometown Poem by Jason Jackson

Hometown

Don't think that I don't love my hometown
But the heart has been torn from it,
The people that stayed, forgot what made it great
They've made bad decisions and evolved a blandness,
that can never be recovered or put right

Don't think that I don't love my hometown,
It made me, and in turn my new family
I could never move back, I've evolved,
maybe for better maybe for worse
fond memories are all that remain

We all need to belong and come from somewhere,
I've been lucky enough to exist in halcyon days,
I do believe and I do still care
People need to change their ways
Don't think that I don't love my hometown
