Hope Poem by Terri A

Hope

Sometimes it feels as though

It's not me;

but, shouldn't it be?

This is my body...

This is me!

Isn't it?

Before it was so easy to tell;

but, one bad thing happened

and my entire world fell.

That light.

The thing they call,

HOPE

Was there left for me anymore?

Each day I tried to move on,

but, something kept pulling me back.

I watched as everyone left.

Maybe I deserve this.

It's all my fault!

...or so I thought.

I CAN do this!

Get back up again.

I CAN do this!

No more will I cower

and let this disorder win.

I will be triumphant!

I WILL HAVE HOPE AGAIN! ! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this for my cousin when she had just found out about her 'condition'. I wanted her to have something that she could always read. To give her courage. I hope that you all find that hope, and the needed courage, to move forward through the tough times.
